Lead Engineer (AI)

Location: UK - Hook; hybrid, with three days per week in the office

What you will do

• Lead and mentor engineers while fostering psychological safety, curiosity, and creative problem-solving.
• Define and execute the technical roadmap for Enterprise AI capabilities with Principal Engineers.
• Build, deploy, support, and provide architectural oversight for secure, reliable AI-driven applications.
• Establish engineering standards and improve coding, architecture, automated testing, CI/CD, incident management, and platform reliability.
• Advise product teams on complex integrations and architectural decisions, resolving technical barriers with scalable solutions.
• Lead technical Scrum ceremonies and ensure delivery of high-quality increments.

Requirements

• Extensive experience leading the delivery and maintenance of complex software products in DevOps and Agile environments.
• Deep practical experience with RAG, LLMs, MLOps, NLP, embeddings, and prompt engineering.
• Expert proficiency in Python, React, and TypeScript.
• Significant experience with GCP or Azure and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Experience designing data-processing and document-ingestion pipelines, such as Vertex AI, Google Cloud Fusion, or Azure Data Factory.
• Strong knowledge of SDLC, API-centric design, Twelve-Factor App principles, authentication, authorization, and secure-by-design practices.

• Ability to explain complex technical topics to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
