TL;DR

Senior Motion Designer (Unity): Lead the creation of premium motion systems, micro-interactions, and real-time UI transitions for automotive HMI with an accent on Unity implementation, scalable motion frameworks, and embedded performance optimization. Focus on building advanced prototypes, defining reusable patterns, and driving quality across programs.

Location: Based in the United States and authorized to work without visa sponsorship. Able to work on-site at our Novi, MI studio as needed. Open to occasional travel.

Salary: $108,750 - $159,500

What you will do

• Lead design and implementation of high-quality motion for automotive HMI, including transitions, micro-interactions, and motion systems in Unity.
• Own real-time motion execution using Timeline, Animator, state machines, and VFX Graph.
• Translate UX flows and UI designs into premium motion principles supporting usability and brand expression.
• Define scalable motion patterns, standards, and documentation across programs.
• Collaborate with UX, UI, Product, and Engineering teams to align motion with product goals and technical constraints.
• Build prototypes, optimize for embedded hardware, mentor designers, and improve pipelines.

Requirements

• 8+ years in motion design with real-time, interactive systems, or automotive HMI.
• Advanced Unity experience in production environments for animation and interactions.
• Strong motion fundamentals: timing, transitions, composition, typography, storytelling.
• Proven ability to define motion systems and frameworks.
• Performance optimization for embedded/real-time environments.
• Proficiency in After Effects, familiarity with Blender/Cinema 4D.
• Fluent English, strong communication, mentoring experience.

• Automotive HMI experience in clusters, IVI, AR HUD.
• Motion frameworks for large-scale ecosystems.
• Unity URP, HDRP, Shader Graph, VFX Graph.
• Integrating motion with 3D scenes.
• Prototyping, usability testing, user research.
