Process Controls Engineer

TL;DR

Process Controls Engineer (Manufacturing): Support development, execution, and improvement of manufacturing controls across programs with an accent on PLCs, robotics, HMIs, and automation systems. Focus on designing control systems, troubleshooting complex issues, and optimizing plant operations for reliability and efficiency.

Location: Onsite in Warren, Michigan. No immigration sponsorship (H1-B, OPT, etc.). Travel <25%. Eligible for relocation benefits.

What you will do

• Support new program execution including SOR preparation, controls and robotics design, equipment build-off, and buyoff.
• Design, integrate, and install control systems for launches and long-term performance.
• Stay current with PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, robotics, and vision systems to drive innovation.
• Manage program deliverables, provide status updates, and troubleshoot existing systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on technical direction, best practices, and issue resolution.
• Contribute to advanced process technologies improving efficiency, quality, and safety.

Requirements

• 2–3+ years in Manufacturing Engineering or plant assignments with controls/automation success.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on experience with plant floor controls, automation design, debug, and implementation (Rockwell PLCs, Fanuc robots, Siemens Sinumerik CNC).
• Knowledge of plant floor systems (Production Monitoring, Andon, Throughput, Material Call) and Common Controls standards.
• Strong analytical skills for complex problem-solving and project coordination.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Deep knowledge of controls architecture and high-volume manufacturing processes.
• Experience with manufacturing information systems, data collection tools, and product launch processes.
• Familiarity with Matrix vision systems and industrial controls architectures.
