What you will do

  • Design and consume APIs (REST, JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger), handle HTTP semantics, idempotency, status codes, and headers.
  • Work with API gateways like Apigee, manage client credentials, rate limiting, and API products.
  • Integrate northbound/southbound APIs with legacy systems (EAI, ESB, SOAP to REST), perform schema mapping and transformations.
  • Handle cross-market integrations, vendor quirks, partial failures, and inconsistencies.
  • Participate in calls with product owners, network teams, API providers, and security to clarify contracts, payloads, errors, and responsibilities.
  • Manage configurations and ensure shared understanding between API producers and consumers.

Requirements

  • Understanding of API design & consumption (REST, JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger).
  • HTTP semantics, API gateways (Apigee/IBM API Connect), client credentials, rate limiting.
  • Northbound/southbound API separation, legacy backend integrations (EAI, ESB, SOAP→REST).
  • Handling partial failures, schema mapping, cross-market integrations (RO, PT, ES), CAMARA/GSMA concepts.
  • OAuth2/Client Credentials, mTLS, secrets handling, cloud-native basics, containers & Kubernetes.
  • Experience aligning stakeholders on API contracts, error handling, and ownership.
