Location: Hybrid in Lisbon, Portugal

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs for seamless platform integrations.
  • Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and stakeholders to implement features aligned with the product roadmap.
  • Write clean, efficient code, participate in code reviews, and provide feedback to team members.
  • Own the full development cycle: technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring in a microservices environment with frequent production deploys.
  • Mentor and coach fellow team members while impacting the product and customers.

Requirements

  • Hybrid work in Lisbon, Portugal
  • 6+ years professional software engineering experience with strong backend focus.
  • Excellent knowledge of software design, scalable architecture, and testing methodologies (unit-testing, TDD, mocking).
  • Experience with AWS or equivalent cloud platform and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Ability to work across multiple languages (Python, Go, Kotlin, C#) and adopt AI tools for development.
  • Proactive team player, fast learner, independent, with mentoring experience.

Nice to have

  • Python, Go, or Kotlin as primary language.
  • Background in financial applications, payroll, or HR tech.
  • Familiarity with large-scale data processing and storage.
