What you will do

• Design and build backend systems for agentic workflows, including retrieval pipelines and orchestration layers.
• Develop and operate automated and human-in-the-loop evaluation frameworks to measure relevance, quality, and task success.
• Optimize retrieval and ranking systems using hybrid retrieval, re-ranking, and query rewriting.
• Enhance LLM-powered workflows via prompt design, caching, and latency optimization.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and data teams to align technical direction with customer outcomes.
• Integrate cutting-edge advances in LLMs and agentic reasoning into production environments.

Requirements

• Professional experience building and operating production backend systems (search, retrieval, or distributed systems).
• Hands-on experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and agentic/LLM-powered systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience with backend frameworks and APIs.
• Experience with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, FAISS, PGVector) and search infrastructure (Elasticsearch, OpenSearch).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) handling large data volumes and low-latency requirements.
• Must be based in or able to work from the Toronto hub on a hybrid schedule.

• Experience designing multi-agent systems or complex orchestration workflows.
• Background in conversational search or dialogue systems.
• Contributions to open-source projects in the LLM or search ecosystem.
