TL;DR

Senior Applied Scientist (AI): Building and optimizing AI-powered quality understanding and recommendation systems for Copilot Discover with an accent on LLMs, multimodal models, and large-scale rankers. Focus on designing models for credibility and safety, scaling E2E ML systems, and improving content quality across diverse modalities.

Location: Multiple locations in Egypt. Must work from the office at least four days per week.

What you will do

• Lead content-quality understanding by designing and deploying models to assess credibility, usefulness, and safety across text, image, audio, and video.
• Develop safety and trust layers using red-teaming and adversarial techniques to reduce misinformation and toxicity.
• Collaborate with engineering to scale E2E ML systems, including feature stores, distributed training, and automated rollout/rollback.
• Define and own evaluation metrics and online experimentation methodologies such as A/B tests and bandit approaches.
• Mentor a high-caliber science cohort and set the technical direction for the ranking and content-quality stack.

Requirements

• Degree (Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD) in Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience working with natural language understanding (NLU).
• Proficiency in Python and at least one major deep learning framework (PyTorch or TensorFlow).
• Experience with large-scale data processing, training, and the ML model development lifecycle.
• Location: Based in Egypt with the ability to work from the office at least four days per week.

Nice to have

• Publications at top AI/ML conferences such as KDD, NeurIPS, ICML, or RecSys.
• Expertise in LLMs (prompting, RAG, PEFT), multimodal modeling, and retrieval-augmented recommendation.
• Experience building content integrity systems for misinformation and low-quality detection.
• Familiarity with the Microsoft stack, including Azure ML, Kusto, and Synapse.
