What you will do

• Lead end-to-end user research for complex public sector projects, navigating the CDDO/GDS Service Assessment process.
• Establish foundational research operations, including standardised methodologies, ethical frameworks, and consent processes.
• Partner with technical teams and designers to translate complex AI domains into human-centric product roadmaps.
• Implement and manage research tooling and participant recruitment databases to ensure ethical AI deployment.
• Mentor and up-skill colleagues, including data scientists and product managers, on research best practices.
• Advocate for user needs at a leadership level to influence high-level business decisions.

Requirements

• Extensive experience leading research within the Government Digital Service (GDS) framework.
• Advanced proficiency in qualitative methods like interviewing and usability testing.
• Ability to navigate complex client environments and influence senior leadership.
• High attention to detail regarding research ethics, data storage, and informed consent.
• Experience building research processes from scratch in fast-paced, technical environments.
• Eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC) is required.
