Executive Underwriter (Inland Marine)

Location: New York, NY, United States. US work authorization required; visa sponsorship is not available. Up to 25% travel.

Salary: $116,000–$159,000 per year, with a 30% incentive bonus target.

What you will do

• Underwrite complex Inland Marine new business and renewal accounts in accordance with authority levels, guidelines, and strategy.
• Analyze loss data, experience ratings, loss ratings, classifications, rates, and premium charges.
• Review policies and provide guidance on coverage forms, exclusions, and rating.
• Present at underwriting meetings with senior executives, insureds, and brokers.
• Develop large-risk strategies, participate in claims reviews, and maintain underwriting documentation standards.
• Build retail and wholesale broker relationships, support marketing initiatives, and mentor less experienced underwriters.

Requirements

• 8+ years of complex retail and wholesale Inland Marine underwriting experience.
• Expert knowledge of Inland Marine coverages, AAIS Inland Marine and COP forms, broker manuscript forms, and policy language.
• Experience analyzing complex loss data and applying experience rating and loss rating concepts.
• Strong communication, analytical, organizational, marketing, and relationship-building skills.
• Four-year college degree and/or CPCU or similar designation preferred.
• US work authorization required; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with actuarial concepts and collaboration with internal actuaries.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
