TL;DR

Senior Platform Engineer (Backend Services): Design and build reusable platform services, APIs, and patterns to accelerate delivery for backend feature teams across hirify.global with an accent on reliability, security, and observability. Focus on engineering for scale with resiliency patterns, full DevOps lifecycle ownership, and elevating observability using Splunk, SignalFx, and PagerDuty.

Location: Hybrid in Utrecht (NL). Must be located in the Netherlands and have the legal right to work in the Netherlands. No relocation from other countries.

Salary: €4,931 - €7,043 gross monthly (scale 09, 36-hour week) + 13th month, 8% holiday allowance, 10% employee benefit budget.

What you will do

• Design and build platform services to accelerate development and reduce lifecycle management at scale for 1000+ engineers.
• Own full DevOps lifecycle: CI/CD, automated testing, deployments, monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
• Engineer for scale and performance using partitioning, caching, resiliency, idempotency, and back-pressure patterns.
• Elevate observability with Splunk, SignalFx, Dynatrace, and PagerDuty; champion security via SAST and dependency tools.
• Collaborate with feature teams, refine tech specs, improve documentation, and contribute to architecture and standards.
• Continuously improve templates, starter kits, libraries, and golden paths for faster, safer builds.

Requirements

• 5+ years building platform services for backend apps (Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot preferred).
• Strong DevOps mindset: CI/CD, infra as code, automated testing, deployments, monitoring.
• Architectural thinking to spar with architects and challenge assumptions.
• Ownership, collaboration, clear communication, stakeholder management.
• Problem-solving with analytical skills and bias for simplicity.
• Professional working proficiency in English.
