Data Engineer

TL;DR

Data Engineer (Cloud Data Platforms): Build modern data platform including data pipelines, integrations, data preparation, models, and analytical marts with an accent on ETL/ELT processes, orchestration, and cloud services. Focus on breaking down complex data problems, designing scalable solutions, preparing data for APIs, and supporting downstream consumers.

Location: Fully Remote (Sofia, Bulgaria)

What you will do

• Work in agile squad to identify data requirements and break down large problems into iterative steps.
• Build data pipelines, integrations, data models, and reporting marts using agreed design patterns.
• Determine appropriate tools, methods, and patterns to meet business needs.
• Proactively suggest improvements, document, maintain the data platform, and provide guidance to data consumers.
• Support and build data APIs while evangelizing data value within the company.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in data engineering
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks), data modeling (dbt), data lakes (AWS Lake Formation, Azure Data Lake).
• ETL/ELT tools (AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, Fivetran, Stitch), orchestration (Airflow).
• Data programming (SQL, Python, Scala, Java), message bus (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SNS/SQS), workflow services (AWS Step Functions, Azure Logic Apps).
• Version control (Git), CI/CD, query services (AWS Athena), serverless (AWS Lambda), reporting (Power BI, QuickSight).
• Strong communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, Agile knowledge; ability to work independently and in teams.
