TL;DR

Staff Data Engineer (Big Data): Designing and scaling large-scale, data-intensive systems and distributed data pipelines for an ELT application with an accent on high throughput and low-latency performance. Focus on architecting backend services using Spark, Kafka, and AWS-native services to process massive datasets.

Location: Remote (Global). Must be able to work within Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours.

What you will do

• Design, build, and scale REST APIs and large-scale data processing pipelines for high-volume datasets.
• Architect and optimize backend services to ensure high throughput and low-latency performance.
• Develop data-intensive and event-driven applications using Python, Typescript, and Spark.
• Utilize Spark, EMR, Glue, and Kafka to process and transform very large datasets.
• Automate deployments and CI/CD pipelines using Terraform, Serverless Framework, and Kubernetes.
• Mentor developers and guide code reviews to raise engineering quality standards.

Requirements

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience with a strong focus on Python.
• 3+ years of professional experience with Typescript and Node.js.
• Advanced expertise with AWS services (EC2, EKS, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, Step Functions).
• Proven experience deploying and optimizing production workloads on Kubernetes.
• Strong experience with distributed computing and batch/stream processing (Spark, Dask, EMR, Glue, Kafka).
• Strong business-level English proficiency and ability to align with EST business hours.
