TL;DR

Sr. Model-Based System Architect (Aerospace): Designing the internal digital engineering ecosystem and formal information schemas for automated aviation systems with an accent on systems, software, and certification data. Focus on creating a scalable single source of truth, bridging core engineering and tool development, and ensuring compliance with safety-critical standards.

Location: Remote or Mountain View, CA. Must be a U.S. person or authorized to perform in compliance with U.S. export control laws.

Salary: $180,000 – $260,000 + Equity

What you will do

  • Architect and maintain the formal information schema for systems and software lifecycle data, including requirements and V&V.
  • Establish and enforce modeling methodologies to ensure consistency across various engineering teams.
  • Partner with software and systems teams to implement data models and templates for complex aircraft architectures.
  • Analyze end-user use cases to prioritize features for internal MBSE and requirements management applications.
  • Act as the strategic interface between engineering users and internal software developers building proprietary modeling tools.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience designing information schemas or ontologies (Graph schemas, SysML profiles, SQL/NoSQL).
  • Expertise in the systems engineering "V-model" and safety-critical standards (DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754A).
  • Ability to read or write code in JavaScript, Python, and/or C/C++.
  • 5+ years of experience developing safety-critical flight systems, software, or complex electronic hardware.
  • Compliance with U.S. export control laws (U.S. person status required or authorized).

Nice to have

  • M.S. in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience customizing ALM or requirements management tools like IBM DOORS, Cameo/MagicDraw, Jama, or Polarion.
  • Private or commercial pilot license.
