TL;DR

SEO Analyst (Digital Media): Conducting comprehensive keyword research using SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Google tools to identify high-value content opportunities aligned with audience intent and editorial calendars with an accent on content optimization, competitive analysis, and performance tracking. Focus on collaborating with editorial teams to implement SEO strategies, monitor metrics like organic traffic and rankings, and provide actionable insights across politics, health, tech, business, travel, and culture verticals.

Location: Fully remote, U.S.-based role. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and available to work in alignment with the Eastern Time Zone.

Salary: $40/hour for max of 15 hours per week

What you will do

  • Conduct keyword research and SEO analysis to identify content opportunities based on search intent, trends, and news cycles.
  • Optimize content for search visibility, including meta tags, headers, internal linking, and technical SEO like schema markup.
  • Perform competitive analysis to spot gaps and emerging keywords informing content strategy.
  • Track SEO performance metrics (traffic, rankings, CTR, engagement) and deliver weekly/monthly reports with insights.
  • Collaborate with editorial teams across multiple brands to integrate SEO into content workflows and manage projects in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Data Science, or related field.
  • 2-4 years hands-on SEO experience, preferably in media, digital publishing, or agency.
  • Proven track record improving organic search via data-driven strategies.
  • Experience with CMS, editorial teams, HTML/CSS/JS for technical SEO, and tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs, Google Analytics/Search Console.
  • Strong analytical skills, project management, and ability to handle multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent communication for cross-functional collaboration.

  • Agency or multi-client experience.
  • News SEO, Google News optimization, real-time opportunities.
  • Understanding of Black culture, tech entrepreneurship, digital media.
  • Data visualization, Excel, project tools like Asana/Slack.
