Governance and Compliance Officer

TL;DR

What you will do

• Act as primary governance contact for REU, providing guidance to committee Chairs on processes and good practice.
• Ensure REU committees operate per terms of reference and annual business schedule.
• Service committees: develop agendas, distribute documentation, take accurate minutes.
• Maintain committee terms of reference and membership records.
• Support RCL internal audits by logging and tracking action progress.
• Identify improvements to governance processes and documentation.
• Liaise with Data Protection Officer on Subject Access Requests per UK GDPR.

Requirements

• Right to Work in the UK (pre-employment checks including criminal records, references, ID, and education confirmation).
• Experience in governance, compliance, or higher education administration.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information.
• Experience in committee servicing.
• Educated to degree level or equivalent.

Nice to have

• Experience working with Boards, Senates, or senior committees.
• Knowledge of governance processes.
• Familiarity with data protection regulations (UK GDPR).
• Relevant qualification in governance, compliance, or data protection.
