Senior Embedded Systems Developer (IoT)

Location: Remote; a remote-friendly policy is offered, with an office located in central Porto.

What you will do

• Design and develop firmware for wireless devices and embedded Linux-based systems.
• Develop firmware for IoT gateways, smart home centers, environmental sensors, wearables, and smart pet devices.
• Work with MCU and wireless SoC platforms under RTOS or bare-metal control, as well as embedded Linux systems.
• Integrate IoT devices with ecosystems such as Amazon, Control4, and Legrand.
• Interact directly with client teams and contribute to client discussions.
• Improve and maintain DSR's Zigbee software stack and related IoT products.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional relevant experience.
• BS degree.
• Excellent C/C++ software development skills.
• Experience developing and debugging firmware for MCU systems with OS-less, RTOS, or embedded Linux environments, and/or Linux development on hardware platforms.
• Ability to independently develop part of a software product, define and document a subsystem design, and implement it.
• Ability to understand and support an existing codebase.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a development team and communicate with team members.
• Ability to recognize customer needs and participate in meetings and discussions.
• Technical English required.

Nice to have

• Experience with communication protocols such as UART, USB, TCP, UDP, TLS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, MQTT, HTTP, or Modbus.
• Experience with wireless networks including Zigbee, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or Z-Wave.
• Experience with FreeRTOS, Zephyr, Linux, or other embedded systems, including application- and kernel-level development.
• Experience integrating devices with cloud services.
• Knowledge of Python or scripting languages such as Lua, Perl, or sh.
• Technical team management experience.
• Experience optimizing code size and performance, maintaining a large existing codebase, administering Unix-like systems, or working with distributed teams.
• Fluent English.
