Technical Leader (Manufacturing Engineering)

TL;DR

Technical Leader (Manufacturing Engineering): Leading the design and standardization of Bill of Equipment (BOE) and Bill of Tooling (BOT) for general assembly with an accent on manufacturing requirements and automation integration. Focus on benchmarking world-class processes, reducing enterprise costs, and guiding the execution of plant engineers.

Location: Onsite in Warren, Michigan (3-5 days a week)

What you will do

• Direct the design, development, and continuous improvement of BOE and BOT within General Assembly.
• Benchmark world-class processes and equipment, incorporating lessons learned via global expert team meetings.
• Develop process manufacturing requirements (MRs) and automation enablers for trim, chassis, or final systems.
• Partner with internal teams and external suppliers to align on technical requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
• Mentor plant engineers and provide technical leadership to influence broader functional areas.
• Ensure strict compliance with safety standards, engineering best practices, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering focused on machinery, equipment, tools, and automation.
• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing execution launch.
• Deep understanding of general assembly processes and automation integration.
• Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement.
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to Warren, Michigan for onsite work (3-5 days/week).

Nice to have

• 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or technical leadership role.
• Proficiency in DFSS, DFMEA, and PFMEA.
• Background in project or construction management.
• Master’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• Experience in high-throughput environments with a focus on system reliability.
