Research Intern (Agentic Learning, Memory & Neurosymbolic Reasoning)

TL;DR

Research Intern (AI): Conducting exploratory research on agentic AI and learning systems to create verifiable AI systems for scientific workflows with an accent on teacher-student interaction dynamics, memory flow, and neurosymbolic validation. Focus on designing and executing experiments, synthesizing findings, and producing research publications.

Location: Hybrid (4 days onsite, 1 day remote). Must be based in or have work authorization for Barcelona (Spain), Boston (USA), or Toronto (Canada)

What you will do

• Contribute to exploratory research in agentic AI and learning systems within the KAMAS team
• Investigate teacher-student interaction dynamics in long-term learning processes
• Develop methods to connect external and parametric memory for bidirectional information flow
• Explore neurosymbolic approaches for the validation and verification of agentic reasoning
• Design, implement, and execute experiments to evaluate research directions
• Synthesize findings into internal documentation and potential academic publications

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in AI, Computer Science, ML, or a related field
• Strong proficiency in Python
• Solid foundation in ML research and experimental design
• Must have or be able to obtain work authorization for Spain, USA, or Canada
• Ability to work independently on exploratory research problems
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for a fast-paced environment

Nice to have

• Experience or strong interest in reinforcement learning and model fine-tuning
• Experience working with smaller models and efficient training setups
