Location: Remote (USA). Must be eligible to work via W2 and pass E-Verify

Salary: $150,000 – $170,000 plus competitive equity package

Early-stage company building a new kind of mental health program for K-12 schools that puts school staff at the center of student care.

What you will do

• Distill insights and stories from schools, students, and families into concise content for policy conversations.
• Develop state-specific impact narratives utilizing outcomes data and real-world success stories.
• Write briefings, impact reports, and leave-behinds for legislators, governors' offices, and state agencies.
• Lead the writing and narrative structure for high-stakes proposals and RFP responses for statewide partnerships.
• Collaborate with Government Partnerships, Sales, and Clinical teams to translate technical data into persuasive prose.
• Act as the editorial quality bar for all government-facing content to ensure professional and strategic communication.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional writing experience with a strong portfolio in journalism, longform, or editorial work.
• Proven ability to translate complex, technical, or data-heavy subject matter into compelling narratives for general audiences.
• Experience communicating with senior, skeptical decision-makers who are not subject-matter experts.
• Sharp editorial judgment to refine, tighten, and structure long-form proposals.
• Genuine interest in youth mental health, education, or public policy.
• Must be authorized to work in the US (W2/E-Verify).

Nice to have

• Background in journalism, magazine writing, or book editing at a major publication.
• Experience writing policy briefs or persuasive materials specifically for government audiences.
• Familiarity with K-12 education or healthcare sectors.
• Experience working within mission-driven organizations.
