Location: Remote (US). Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee). Hybrid setup: if living within 50 miles of Mountain View, Detroit, Warren, or Milford, reporting to the office at least 3 times a week is required.

Salary: $189,000 – $290,700

What you will do

• Build on-vehicle services to provision, execute, and monitor autonomous vehicle software in development and production workflows.
• Develop frameworks to configure self-driving software across various simulation environments, hardware platforms, and use cases.
• Create systems and frameworks for monitoring vehicle status and data exfiltration.
• Collaborate across multiple teams and mentor other developers.
• Deliver complex projects through incremental development cycles.

Requirements

• U.S. Person status (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee).
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of experience shipping production-quality software in Linux-based environments.
• Strong proficiency in modern C++ and Python development.
• Experience building tooling for large-scale systems.
• High standard for quality and experience designing for testability.

Nice to have

• Experience with robotics middleware platforms, inter-process communication (IPC), or logging.
• Experience designing software for CPU and memory-constrained environments or interfacing with hardware.
• Proven track record of leading projects from initial design through customer release.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for documenting system behavior.
