What you will do

• Provide technical leadership and coaching for Die & Press ME across China and JVs, with a specific focus on SGMW.
• Act as the global technical owner for all stamping and hemming die sourcing in China for GMSA and future programs.
• Coordinate integrated die sourcing and execution plans across regions, China ME, and suppliers to protect QCD and VDP timing.
• Lead SE/DFM, forming strategy, and process sheets for China-sourced die lines, ensuring compliance with global standards.
• Oversee pattern build, tryout, rework loops, and final buyoff for all dies in scope, providing support through homeline tryout.
• Drive supplier readiness checks, technical governance, and capacity assessments for Tier 1 and Tier 2 tooling vendors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in global die sourcing project management, stamping die engineering, or press ME.
• Deep knowledge of BIW stamped sheet metal parts, HSS formability, and press line configurations.
• Proven track record of leading complex, multi-year tooling programs with aggressive QCD and timing targets.
• Fluent written and spoken English and Chinese.
• Must be based in or eligible for local hire in Shanghai, China.

Nice to have

• Experience as a technical lead or manager for die/stamping/press ME teams.
• Experience working with China JVs (e.g., SGMW, SGM).
• Advanced proficiency in Siemens NX, AutoForm, or similar formability tools.
• Background in supplier development, tooling vendor management, or global program management.
