Physician Coder: Neurosurgery

What you will do

• Review and accurately code neurosurgery surgical cases, E/M visits, office procedures, and surgeries to maximize reimbursement.
• Work independently, research coding scenarios, and meet daily production and 95% quality accuracy goals.
• Communicate with leadership on coding/documentation issues, attend calls, and provide feedback.
• Stay current on coding guidelines, maintain credentials, and participate in department meetings.
• Expand coding skills into other specialties and handle other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma required; Associate or BS preferred.
• CPC or CCS-P certification required (CPC-A not accepted); active AHIMA or AAPC credential.
• Minimum 3 years recent hands-on physician coding experience in neurosurgery surgeries, E/M services, and office procedures.
• Proficient in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10-CM coding, modifiers, surgical techniques, Medicare/Medicaid policies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, EHR/billing systems; Google Workspace experience preferred.

Nice to have

• Auditing experience.
• CPMA certification.
