Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer

TL;DR

Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer: Developing manufacturing processes, equipment/tooling alternatives, and sequence of operations for effective production of automotive parts and assemblies with an accent on uptime, tool cost, quality, and maintainability. Focus on implementing continuous improvement activities, managing process-related projects, and resolving equipment downtime issues.

Location: Onsite in Lake Orion, Michigan. GM does not provide immigration sponsorship (H1-B, OPT, etc.).

What you will do

• Develop and implement plans for uptime, tool cost, quality, and maintainability objectives.
• Create all process documentation including Process Control Plans, PFMEAs, Tool Bulletins, and standardized work.
• Support Maintenance in resolving equipment and tooling downtime issues.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality on problem-solving, corrective actions, and long-term solutions.
• Manage projects for new equipment installation, continuous improvements, repairs, including budgeting and timelines.
• Investigate equipment problems and provide technical resolutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or related field (or equivalent).
• 5+ years in automotive manufacturing.
• Solid understanding of GD&T principles and vehicle build processes across Body, Paint, and GA.
• Familiarity with CAD software for interpreting models and dimensional data.
• Experience with PFMEA, Process Control Plans, root cause analysis, and PPS.
• Knowledge of tooling, automation, fixtures, error-proofing, robotics, and conveyance.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work different shifts; cross-functional teamwork.

Nice to have

• Experience with new vehicle program launches.
• Familiarity with GM launch methodologies, error-proofing standards, and plant quality systems.
