TL;DR

Sr. Product Cybersecurity Engineer (Vehicle Security): Designing and implementing intrusion detection capabilities (IDS) across vehicle electrical architectures with an accent on secure system design, embedded security, and risk-based threat analysis. Focus on translating threat models into detection logic, ensuring compliance with automotive standards, and integrating security into ECUs.

Location: Hybrid (Must be based in or be able to relocate to Milford or Warren, Michigan, USA). No immigration sponsorship provided.

What you will do

  • Define and maintain IDS requirements, use cases, and detection objectives across vehicle platforms and network domains.
  • Design in-vehicle IDS architectures, including sensor placement, data collection, and analysis flows.
  • Translate threat models and attack paths into concrete detection logic and model requirements.
  • Collaborate with ECU owners and suppliers to integrate IDS capabilities into gateways and central compute platforms.
  • Validate IDS performance through lab testing, trace analysis, and test vehicle evaluations.
  • Ensure designs align with internal processes and external standards such as ISO/SAE 21434 and UN R155.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in embedded systems and vehicle networking (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, SOME/IP, UDS).
  • Strong foundation in cybersecurity principles, including threat modeling and defense-in-depth for embedded systems.
  • Ability to apply automotive cybersecurity standards (ISO/SAE 21434, UN R155) to engineering designs.
  • Experience with AUTOSAR architecture, Linux-like environments, and microcontroller-based systems.
  • Proficiency in at least one language: C, C++, Python, Go, or Java.
