Senior Security Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: On site in Mountain View, California, United States

Salary: $204,000–$259,000 USD per year, plus eligibility for an annual bonus, equity incentives, and company benefits.

What you will do

• Evaluate system elements, define item boundaries, and develop cybersecurity concepts for self-driving platform features.
• Perform threat analysis and risk assessments in compliance with ISO/SAE 21434.
• Define and manage security requirements and risk treatment approaches based on TARA results.
• Collaborate with engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle, from concept and development through operation and incident response.
• Partner with safety teams to assess cybersecurity risks, safety impacts, and interactions with functional safety standards.
• Maintain cybersecurity compliance across multiple projects and update security practices as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a similar field.
• Thorough understanding of cybersecurity threat and risk assessments for embedded systems or other computer architectures.
• Solid understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, including secure communications and security technologies.
• Ability to create and negotiate security targets and requirements with engineering teams.
• Experience writing security requirements and designing security features.
• At least 5 years of experience in a security or similar industry role is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with ISO/SAE 21434 certification and/or UN R155 type approval.
• Experience delivering software and/or hardware security solutions.
• Thorough understanding of security best practices.
