Electrical Systems Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: Brisbane, CA; hybrid

Anticipated salary range: $120,000–$150,000 per year

Develops connected Automated External Defibrillator products and response systems designed to provide rapid access to life-saving defibrillation.

What you will do

• Own system-level electrical development from concept through validated, shippable hardware for AED products and accessories.
• Collaborate with electrical, firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, test, and quality engineers to develop, test, and launch product features.
• Investigate product changes, evaluate peripheral components, and integrate new modules into existing designs.
• Bring up new PCBAs, validate electronics for production, improve BOMs, qualify alternate components, and debug manufacturing failures.
• Support field products through electrical failure analysis, system log reviews, and cross-functional debugging with quality, manufacturing, and customer success.
• Design and execute test suites, analyze and present data, and document results in technical reports.

Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience shipping hardware to the field.
• Strong technical foundation in circuit theory and analysis.
• Hands-on experience designing, testing, and analyzing mixed-signal circuitry.
• Familiarity with embedded firmware.
• Ability to debug circuit behavior across MCUs, switching power supplies, high-voltage, ECG, audio, cellular, Wi-Fi, and other electronic modules.
• Ability to instrument, operate, and interpret data from oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, logic analyzers, and other laboratory equipment.

Nice to have

• Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium Designer.
• Experience with scripting programming tools such as Python.
• Experience working on medical or health devices, including in FDA- or ISO-regulated environments.
