What you will do

• Lead a cross-functional delivery team of 6+ engineers, balancing leadership with hands-on coding.
• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend components using Perl and C.
• Own end-to-end feature delivery, including Java-based automated testing and performance stability.
• Build mapping and business logic layers to interface with client, gateway, and host systems.
• Implement observability and monitoring features to ensure low-latency, self-recovering operations.
• Collaborate with client stakeholders to refine requirements and resolve technical issues.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams or strong tech leadership readiness.
• Proficiency in Perl, C, or Java (willingness to learn Perl is required).
• English: Upper-Intermediate (B2) level.
• Location: Must be based in Poland.
• Availability: Must be able to travel to Zagreb twice per quarter.

Nice to have

• Experience in payments, fintech, or card processing domains.
• Proficiency with Java-based testing frameworks.
• Experience with DevOps practices, observability, and logging.
