What you will do

• Create automated workflows in partnership with product/engineering and train AI systems/templates on best practices.
• Identify and correct misleading/inconsistent data framing; build guardrails to reduce error rates in automated generation.
• Train reporters on querying datasets/AI tools; provide feedback on local data stories/graphics.
• Generate ideas and produce centralized data-driven stories for distribution across markets.
• Track usage, document edge cases for small markets, recommend product/editorial adjustments.
• Prototype new storytelling formats.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of implementing workflows at scale and common pitfalls.
• Firsthand experience in local news with strong editorial judgment on meaningful community data and responsible presentation.
• Knowledge of utilizing AI to automate smart workflows.
• Expert collaborator comfortable leading conversations across editorial and product teams.
• Ability to spot friction points early and proactively pursue solutions.
• Clear communicator who translates complex methodology simply; track record of innovation.
• Actively develop AI literacy and use AI tools to enhance productivity (expected of all team members).
