Salary: $60,000 - $100,000 (dependent on location, experience, skills)

What you will do
- Create automated workflows in partnership with product/engineering and train AI systems/templates on best practices.
- Identify and correct misleading/inconsistent data framing; build guardrails to reduce error rates in automated generation.
- Train reporters on querying datasets/AI tools; provide feedback on local data stories/graphics.
- Generate ideas and produce centralized data-driven stories for distribution across markets.
- Track usage, document edge cases for small markets, recommend product/editorial adjustments.
- Prototype new storytelling formats.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of implementing workflows at scale and common pitfalls.
- Firsthand experience in local news with strong editorial judgment on meaningful community data and responsible presentation.
- Knowledge of utilizing AI to automate smart workflows.
- Expert collaborator comfortable leading conversations across editorial and product teams.
- Ability to spot friction points early and proactively pursue solutions.
- Clear communicator who translates complex methodology simply; track record of innovation.
- Actively develop AI literacy and use AI tools to enhance productivity (expected of all team members).
