What you will do

• Design and build backend systems, APIs, and distributed services that power the product.
• Develop and evolve frameworks and libraries used by other engineers.
• Manage the full service lifecycle, including schema design, implementation, deployment, and performance tuning.
• Operate and optimize various data stores, including relational databases, NoSQL, queues, caches, and search indexes.
• Architect ML-driven systems such as real-time audio pipelines and stateful conversation systems.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks regarding cost, throughput, and latency.

Requirements

• Expert-level proficiency in at least one programming language with a focus on clean, well-designed code.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, including failure modes, consistency tradeoffs, and scaling strategies.
• Proven experience building production systems with caching layers, sharded data stores, and async processing pipelines.
• Deep database engineering skills in both relational and non-relational stores.
• Proficiency with application-level protocols: REST, WebSockets, gRPC, and HTTP semantics.
• Experience deploying and running services on Kubernetes.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience in payments (billing, ledgers), search and relevance (ranking, indexing), or real-time media streaming.
• Deep expertise in Python for maintainable and scalable code.
• Experience building on GCP.
