Forward-Deployed Engineer (Voice AI)

Location: Remote role based in the United States, with regular customer site visits at least once or twice a month and up to 80% on site during major engagements.

Salary: $197,000–$246,000 USD annual base salary, plus equity and a 10% annual bonus.

What you will do

• Build and ship end-to-end services, production integrations, internal tooling, voice agents, and prompt-engineering solutions.
• Design, develop, and maintain integrations with point-of-sale, loyalty, payment gateway, and customer data systems.
• Embed with one strategic customer at a time, working directly with technical and business teams.
• Monitor, debug, and optimize production systems, including voice AI deployments in noisy, multi-microphone, and drive-through environments.
• Work with research and product teams to extend the platform and turn field learnings into reusable solutions, automation, and documentation.
• Test changes against live production data and measure accuracy, latency, and throughput.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent evidence of building shipped systems.
• Hands-on experience developing and deploying backend systems used in production.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and API design.
• Ability to recognize problems proactively and take ownership of their impact.
• Strong relationship-building, situational awareness, initiative, and coachability for customer-facing technical work.
• Availability for recurring customer site visits and periods of intensive on-site delivery is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with audio or voice interfaces.
• Experience integrating multiple third-party APIs, especially point-of-sale systems.
• Experience taking a system from zero to one.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Rust, Go, Kotlin, or other modern languages.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or similar containerization tools.

Hiring process

• Complete accelerated Forward-Deployed onboarding during the first two weeks.
• Shadow the active engagement, visit the customer site with a senior engineer, and take ownership of an initial workstream.
• Progress toward independent on-site visits, end-to-end ownership, and solution-scoping conversations within 90 days.
