Senior Design Engineer (Construction Equipment)

Senior Design Engineer (Mechanical Engineering): Designing and developing innovative components and assemblies for Compact Wheel Loaders with an accent on functional and technical validation. Salary: £58,000 - £65,000

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of validated components and assemblies, including fabrications, castings, and fluid-carrying installations.
• Manage multiple concurrent objectives across various projects to deliver designs into series production.
• Collaborate with global teams and suppliers to ensure quality, velocity, and cost targets are met.
• Coordinate design changes through the engineering lifecycle with sales, marketing, supply chain, and manufacturing teams.
• Communicate design status and critical decisions to stakeholders via presentations and detailed reports.
• Provide technical coaching and work direction to other members of the technical team.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in analytical thinking and the ability to create alternative solutions for complex problems.
• Proficiency in creating 3D CAD geometry using modelling techniques (ideally CREO).
• Experience applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to recognized standards.
• Ability to manage changes using engineering data management systems (ideally Teamcenter).
• Proven track record of converting customer needs into technical specifications and production designs.
• Extensive knowledge of product features and development from concept through to production.

Nice to have

• Master’s Engineering Degree or equivalent level 7 qualification.
• Specific expertise in the design and manufacture of mobile construction equipment.
• Deep understanding of product development systems, analytical approaches, and problem-solving methodologies.
