Senior DevOps Data Engineer (AWS)

TL;DR

Senior DevOps Data Engineer (AWS/Terraform): Architecting and operating highly resilient data infrastructure and disaster recovery strategies for global enterprise clients with an accent on data platform availability and scalability. Focus on designing replication topologies, executing zero-downtime database migrations, and automating data platform operations via IaC.

What you will do

• Design and validate disaster recovery architectures for relational, NoSQL, and managed data services across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Plan and execute database migration cutovers, including blue-green swaps, read-replica promotion, and zero-downtime schema migration workflows.
• Architect replication topologies (cross-region, active-active/passive) and validate RPO/RTO targets through runbook-driven DR drills.
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code for data platform provisioning (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, Redshift, MSK) using Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Develop automation tooling for failover orchestration, health checks, capacity scaling, and credential rotation.
• Implement observability for data infrastructure, monitoring replication lag, connection pool health, and storage growth forecasting.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience as a DevOps, Data Platform, or SRE engineer with a focus on data infrastructure.
• Deep hands-on experience designing and operating production database DR architectures (failover, replication, backup/restore).
• Strong experience with AWS managed data services: RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, Redshift, and MSK.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform + Atlantis and/or CloudFormation.
• Production experience with Amazon EKS and understanding of how data workloads intersect with Kubernetes.
• Strong professional experience with at least one of: Python, Golang, Bash, or Rust for automation.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) or Schema Conversion Tool (SCT).
• Knowledge of database proxy or connection pooling solutions like RDS Proxy, PgBouncer, or ProxySQL.
• Experience in gaming infrastructure or high-MAU consumer platforms with complex data tiers.
• Industry certifications such as AWS Database Specialty or AWS Solutions Architect.
