Staff Engineer (Distributed Storage & Transactions): Design, build, and scale core distributed storage, replication, and transaction foundations of hirify.globalDB with an accent on consistency, durability, fault tolerance, performance, and scalability. Focus on solving complex distributed systems challenges, improving database throughput for growing clusters, and streamlining management operations like scale-out and backups.

Location: Hybrid in Sunnyvale, CA, United States (team together in office 2–3 days per week)

Salary: USD 150,000 - USD 250,000

What you will do

• Lead design, development, testing, and delivery of core storage and replication features.
• Write high-quality C/C++ code, participate in design discussions and code reviews.
• Troubleshoot correctness, stability, and performance issues in distributed subsystems.
• Improve scalability and throughput for large clusters and high transaction rates.
• Build database operations including horizontal scale-out, backups, schema changes, and upgrades.
• Implement performance improvements across storage, transactions, and replication.
• Contribute to open-source hirify.globalDB and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years professional software engineering experience in systems programming with C/C++
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems: replication, consensus, transactions, consistency, fault tolerance.
• Experience with storage engines, databases, or infrastructure systems.
• Strong problem-solving in collaborative distributed teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed storage, transactional engines, or consensus protocols.
• Familiarity with LSM-tree, WALs, snapshots, compaction.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL internals or other relational databases.
• Contributions to open-source systems or databases.
