Senior Safety Engineer (Defense-Aerospace)

TL;DR

Senior Safety Engineer (Defense-Aerospace): Assisting with and implementing MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs with an accent on hazard analysis, fault tolerance assessment, and safety requirements compliance. Focus on performing system safety tasks across management, analysis, evaluation, and verification series, collaborating with integrated product teams, and preparing safety assessment reports for customer approval.

Location: Woburn, MA (onsite). Active and transferable final U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required.

Pay Rate: up to $84/hr (W2, non-benefited)

What you will do

• Implement MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs.
• Perform system safety tasks including management, analysis, evaluation, and verification.
• Analyze engineering hardware, electrical drawings, and schematics for fault tolerance and hazards.
• Review test procedures and ensure administrative controls for safety.
• Collaborate across integrated product teams to eliminate hazards or implement controls.
• Prepare Safety Assessment Reports, program briefs, and brief safety at technical reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in STEM and 5+ years of relevant experience in Safety, Systems, Software, Electrical, or Firmware Engineering.
• Active and transferable U.S. Secret security clearance.
• Experience reviewing system requirements, specifications, and military standards.
• Ability to interface with stakeholders including customers, program offices, and vendors.

Nice to have

• Experience with DoD System Safety Programs (MIL-STD-882, DO-178).
• System and software safety in Agile environments.
• Human Systems Integration and MIL-STD-1472.
• Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development.
• Familiarity with Engineering Change Proposals and System Safety Working Groups.
