What you will do

• Prototype prompts and pipelines, ship production ML systems across the stack including data ingestion, model integration, serving, and monitoring.
• Build and optimize RAG systems with text chunking, hybrid retrieval, vector store tuning, and relevance optimization.
• Handle challenges like latency, cost, edge cases, and prompt brittleness to create reliable systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and design to deliver magical experiences grounded in robust infrastructure.
• Evaluate model performance and behavior using advanced tooling and quality metrics.

Requirements

• 5+ years engineering experience, ideally including ML, NLP, or applied AI
• 2+ years hands-on with LLMs, transformers, production-grade generative AI
• 2+ years with server-side language (Go, TypeScript, Python)
• Experience building RAG systems (LangChain, LlamaIndex, custom)
• Self-starter who architects projects correctly, makes tradeoffs, and prioritizes outcomes
• Must be based in San Francisco headquarters

Nice to have

• Experience with multi-modal inputs, fine-tuning open models, agent-style systems
• Familiarity with evaluation tools (Braintrust, Promptfoo) and quality metrics
• Independent with side projects or libraries
