Software Engineer, AI/ML

Location: San Francisco, CA — on-site at the headquarters

What you will do

• Build and ship AI-powered features across data ingestion, model integration, serving, and monitoring.
• Prototype prompts and pipelines, then develop them into reliable production systems.
• Design and optimize RAG systems, including chunking, hybrid retrieval, vector store tuning, and relevance optimization.
• Evaluate model performance and behavior using quality metrics and evaluation tooling.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and design to deliver measurable user experiences.

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering experience, ideally including ML, NLP, or applied AI.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with LLMs, transformers, and production generative AI systems.
• 2+ years of experience with a server-side language such as Go, TypeScript, or Python.
• Production experience building resilient ML-powered features and handling latency, cost, edge cases, and prompt brittleness.
• Experience building RAG systems with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or custom stacks.

Nice to have

• Experience with multimodal inputs, fine-tuning open models, or agent-style orchestration.
• Familiarity with Braintrust, Promptfoo, or similar evaluation tools.
• Maintaining side projects or libraries.
