What you will do

• Define COBOL-specific quality success metrics and success criteria for code annotation and dataset labeling.
• Develop project-specific SOPs, QA rubrics, and reference materials to ensure alignment with technical standards.
• Review and correct COBOL scripts, code annotations, and legacy modernization samples.
• Participate in technical assessments and vetting of contractor talent.
• Advise on technical scoping, including COBOL versioning, JCL integration, and mainframe data formats.
• Curate libraries of gold-standard COBOL code samples and modernization examples for calibration.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in COBOL programming, mainframe systems, or enterprise application maintenance.
• Mastery of COBOL (familiarity with JCL, DB2, CICS, or VSAM preferred).
• Proven ability to define and enforce high technical standards in legacy system environments.
• Experience developing technical documentation, QA frameworks, or training content for mainframe systems.
• Fluency in spoken and written English with a high standard of technical writing.
• Ability to deliver against fixed project timelines and defined scopes.
