Location: Hybrid; must be based in or near Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Dublin, Sydney, or London (office attendance minimum twice per week).

What you will do
- Research and optimize retrieval at scale using hybrid sparse/dense embeddings and contextual chunking.
- Develop re-ranking strategies based on legal-specific signals to surface the most authoritative results.
- Build agentic infrastructure for decomposing and executing complex legal tasks with traceability and guardrails.
- Design evaluation frameworks and offline testbeds to measure system performance against legal professional needs.
- Implement grounding and validation mechanisms to ensure model responses are anchored in trusted legal sources.
- Drive the transition of research prototypes into production-ready scalable solutions.
Requirements
- Masters or PhD in Computer Science, ML, AI, or a related field.
- Industry experience in applied AI research or engineering.
- Expertise in information retrieval systems, LLM fine-tuning, or prompt engineering.
- Track record of delivering complex technical projects from ideation to production.
- Proficiency in data manipulation and pre-processing for complex unstructured datasets.
- Must be based in one of the specified office locations to support the hybrid work model.
