Entry Level Machinist

TL;DR

Entry Level Machinist: Perform basic drill press, lathe, milling machine, and grinding operations with an accent on care and application of turning/plunge and form tools. Focus on operating shear vise, tapping machines, power hand tools, band saws, and completing required paperwork.

Location: Onsite – Blacksburg, VA, United States. Position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.

Salary: $17.00–$20.00 Hourly (Blacksburg, VA)

What you will do

• Perform basic operations on drill press, lathe, milling machine, and grinders.
• Care for and apply turning/plunge and form tools.
• Operate shear vise, tapping machines, power hand tools, grinders, sanders, and blasters.
• Operate power band saw, cut off saw, with proper speeds, feeds, and blade maintenance.
• Complete required paperwork and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED preferred; otherwise demonstrated ability to understand English instructions and basic math.
• At least one-year completion of approved vocational program in Machine Technology or equivalent.
• Proficiency in general mathematics.
• Knowledge of machine shop gauges and machines.
• U.S. work authorization due to export-controlled information access.
