Forward Deployed Engineer (Photonics)

TL;DR

Forward Deployed Engineer (Photonics/AI): Translate complex photonic device and circuit challenges into structured AI workflows and deployable systems built on the Axiomatic Intelligence platform with an accent on modeling, simulation automation, and design-space optimization. Focus on architecting agentic AI prototypes, orchestrating LLMs with physics-based models, and bridging customer needs with product capabilities.

Primary locations: Boston, US / Toronto, Canada / Singapore. Onsite/hybrid in Toronto or Boston (2-3 days per week), remote in Singapore.

What you will do

• Engage with customer teams to frame photonic design workflows and translate requirements into technical architectures and roadmaps.
• Build rapid prototypes for AI-assisted modeling, co-design, optimization, and simulation automation using agentic workflows.
• Orchestrate LLMs, physics models, simulations, and customer data into deployable systems.
• Collaborate with internal teams to convert field insights into scalable platform features and roadmap inputs.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in science/engineering (e.g., electrical engineering, photonics, applied physics).
• 4+ years in software engineering, applied AI, forward deployed, or solution engineering.
• Strong Python for scientific computing, workflow orchestration, API integration.
• Hands-on with LLMs, APIs, agentic systems, orchestration frameworks.
• Excellent communication; experience delivering solutions to customers/stakeholders.
• Friendly, collaborative attitude.

Nice to have

• Agentic AI with LangChain, Pydantic, LlamaIndex, Ray, Prefect.
• EDA environments or hardware-software co-design.
• Cloud infrastructure, APIs, deployment workflows.
• Device physics, circuit constraints, system automation.
