What you will do

• Build and scale core infrastructure components using Golang, gRPC, Postgres, and OS primitives like syscalls and cgroups.
• Deliver projects from 0 to N, leading development while anticipating tech debt and future scalability needs.
• Construct monitoring, alerts, and dashboards to ensure proactive issue detection and system reliability.
• Communicate via RFCs and docs to break down and execute large, complex tasks.
• Participate in oncall rotations (1-2 weeks per quarter) and operate with high agency and urgency.
• Ship solutions optimized for current needs while designing for 10x growth and 100x in the long term.

Requirements

• Experience building application-level code in Golang, gRPC, Postgres, etc.
• Proficiency with OS primitives (syscalls, cgroups).
• Track record of delivering and scaling projects 0→N.
• Experience with oncall duties and building monitoring/alerting systems.
• Strong communication skills using RFCs/docs for complex tasks.
• Comfortable operating remotely with high ownership in a small, distributed team.

Nice to have

• Baremetal networking at massive scale (eBGP, eBPF, Wireguard).
• Orchestration for 100m+ containers (runtimes, hypervisors, live migrations).
• Metrics/logs/traces at 1T+ requests/mo (Vector, VictoriaMetrics, Clickhouse).
• Block storage and filesystems at petabyte scale (ZFS, Ceph).
• Efficient OCI image building/transfer (BuildKit, SOCI).
• Experience building datacenters or homelabs.
