TL;DR
Infrastructure Planning Expert (Energy): Advise on aligning open-source energy modelling tools with TSO planning and decision-making needs with an accent on bridging modelling tools and operational workflows. Focus on capacity expansion and production-cost models, institutional systems of change, and stakeholder engagement across regions.
Location: Europe (Remote-first), ideally based in or willing to relocate to Brussels, Belgium. Some work travel required.
Salary: EUR 70k-90k gross per annum, based on experience

What you will do
- Advise on integrating long-term energy planning into TSO operational and investment decisions.
- Bridge open-source modelling tools with internal TSO planning workflows.
- Provide insights on how capacity expansion and production-cost models inform infrastructure planning.
- Identify institutional processes and regulatory oversight for model adoption in TSOs.
- Design capacity-building sessions and documentation for TSO analytical needs.
- Mentor staff on TSO processes, decision frameworks, and policy drivers.
- Engage with TSOs, regulators, and planning bodies.
Requirements
- 7+ years in Transmission System Operator, system planning consultancy, or regulatory body in power system transformation.
- Experience in energy planning, capacity expansion, or production-cost modelling.
- Familiarity with long-term studies and regulatory/investment processes.
- Strong understanding of decarbonization, system flexibility, and cross-sectoral integration.
- Fluency in English.
- Thrive in self-managed, remote, transparent culture with initiative and ownership.

- Worked at a TSO, startup, or in energy sector.
- Located in or willing to relocate to Brussels, Belgium.
