What you will do

• Architect and build a new, scalable invoicing system to replace existing infrastructure.
• Develop compliance infrastructure including e-invoicing, fiscalization, and VAT engines to enable EU market expansion.
• Improve the reliability and scalability of payment processing, reconciliation, and withdrawal systems.
• Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Product teams to deliver new commercial billing models.
• Drive architectural decisions to ensure auditability, correctness, and scale of financial data.
• Mentor the engineering team through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Strong experience in backend engineering with production systems at scale (Java/Kotlin preferred).
• Proven track record in financial domains such as billing, payments, or invoicing.
• Ability to own technical design for complex projects spanning multiple teams.
• Advanced proficiency in AI tools (e.g., Claude Code) for daily engineering workflows.
• Proficient spoken and written English for professional communication.
• Must be able to work in a hybrid setup in Copenhagen.

Nice to have

• Experience with EU financial regulations, e-invoicing standards, or fiscalization.
• Experience with payment service providers or payment infrastructure.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures (Kafka) or high-throughput data processing.
