TL;DR

Senior Quantum Machine Learning Scientist (QML): Lead original research in quantum machine learning, quantum algorithms, and hybrid quantum-classical methods with an accent on novel architectures, theoretical viability, and scalability for near-term quantum hardware. Focus on designing variational models and quantum transformers, prototyping executable workflows, and providing strategic technical guidance to align research with company goals.

Location: Fully remote with option to work in-person in Maryland. Assistance moving to Maryland if desired.

What you will do

• Lead research in quantum machine learning, identifying novel directions and assessing viability.
• Design and evaluate state-of-the-art quantum and hybrid models, establishing best practices for benchmarking.
• Implement and prototype models using quantum software stacks, ensuring compatibility with NISQ hardware.
• Provide strategic technical guidance on product and research decisions, challenging flawed approaches.
• Lead grant proposals, identify patentable ideas, and engage with external partners for publications.

Requirements

• PhD (or equivalent) in physics, computer science, mathematics, or related field.
• Deep expertise in machine learning and quantum computing with demonstrated research track record.
• 6+ years machine learning experience; 5+ years quantum algorithm implementation.
• Experience designing novel algorithms/architectures, strong theory-practice intuition, and intellectual independence.

Nice to have

• Prior grant writing, funded research, or patents.
• Startup experience, quantum simulation, error correction, or strong abstract math background (e.g., Lie theory).
