Location: Hybrid in Porto, Portugal (minimum 5 days per month on-site)

What you will do

• Own the full data science workflow from problem framing to delivery for specific projects.
• Develop statistical and machine learning methods for noisy, high-dimensional, and small-sample biomedical data.
• Improve preprocessing pipelines, signal quality, and acquisition protocols through raw data and instrumentation analysis.
• Apply chemometric and multivariate analysis to spectroscopic data such as Raman and FTIR.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with experimental, hardware, and product teams to influence experimental design.
• Contribute to research publications, patents, and presentations at leading conferences.

Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, Applied Math, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field (exceptional Master's candidates considered).
• 3+ years of post-PhD experience in academia or industry working on quantitative data problems.
• Strong experience in applied statistics, predictive modelling, and experimental design.
• Experience working with raw data alongside instrumentation to optimize signal quality and hardware performance.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid in Porto, Portugal (minimum 5 days per month on-site).

Nice to have

• Experience in chemometric or multivariate analysis of spectroscopic data (Raman, FTIR).
• Experience mentoring junior team members.
