Unreal Engine DevTech Engineer (Unreal Engine): Analyze and optimize Unreal Engine performance on hardware using profiling tools and traces with an accent on rendering, compute, memory, and real-time features like Raytracing, Nanite, Lumen. Focus on identifying bottlenecks, developing optimizations and patches, collaborating with Epic Games on feature validation and hardware enablement, and creating tools and documentation for developers.
Location: Virtual US - fully home-based, must live and work in the United States due to legal regulations; occasional site visits
Salary: $173,660 - $284,580 USD annually

What you will do
- Analyze Unreal Engine performance on hardware, identify bottlenecks in rendering, compute, memory, shaders, threading, and I/O.
- Develop optimizations, sample code, engine patches, and validate features like Raytracing, Nanite, Lumen on platforms.
- Collaborate with Epic Games as technical liaison, provide feedback on issues, features, and roadmap.
- Work with GPU architects, drivers, and software teams for hardware enablement and performance reports.
- Build profiling tools, plugins, documentation, best practices, and reference samples for Unreal on .
- Support marketing, DevRel, ISV teams with technical insights, demos, benchmarks, and developer assistance.
Requirements
- Must live and work in the United States
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related + 6+ years experience
- Modern GPU architecture, graphics pipelines, real-time rendering principles
- Hands-on Unreal Engine (C++), rendering modules, configuration, profiling
- C++ and low-level systems programming
- Graphics APIs: DirectX 12, Vulkan
- CPU/GPU performance analysis with tools like RenderDoc, PIX, Nsight, Unreal Insights
Nice to have
- Experience with hardware vendors, game engines, AAA studios
- Contributions to engines, middleware, drivers, performance tools
- Shader languages (HLSL, GLSL), GPU compute
- Compiler backends, shader compilation, driver behavior
- Profiling large multithreaded C++ codebases
- Modern rendering: geometry virtualization, SDF GI, virtual shadow maps, temporal upsampling
