TL;DR
ILS Engineer (Naval Defence): Developing supportability solutions for advanced maritime defence systems including sonar technologies with an accent on reliability, maintainability, and whole life cost optimization. Focus on conducting lifecycle analyses, shaping design for support, and ensuring global supportability through reliability modelling and human factors assessment.
Location: Office-based in Loudwater (Buckinghamshire), Greenford (Greater London), or Weymouth (Dorset), England, UK with occasional travel to sites, customers, and suppliers. Must hold or be capable of achieving UK Security Clearance (SC) or higher with no caveats and provide evidence of UK work eligibility. Full UK driving license required.

What you will do
- Tailor ILS activities to meet user, customer, and company requirements.
- Collaborate with designers to enhance reliability, maintainability, and usability of products.
- Develop optimum support solutions aligned with product roadmaps.
- Perform lifecycle cost, level of repair, sparing, and failure modes analyses.
- Conduct reliability modelling, maintainability analysis, and human factors assessments.
- Prepare technical manuals, hazard analyses, and obsolescence strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical/electrical) or equivalent military/technical experience.
- Knowledge and experience in Reliability & Maintainability (e.g., predictions, RBDs, FTAs, FMECAs, MTAs, FRACAS).
- Ability to review ILS elements like LCC, LORA, sparing, obsolescence, training, and whole life cost modelling.
- Capable of achieving UK Security Clearance (SC) or higher; BPSS check required with UK work eligibility evidence.
- Full UK driving license.
Nice to have
- Experience with PTC Windchill, Relyence, or similar modelling software.
