Focus on implementing PHP services, influencing system architecture, API design, data models, and improving observability under high load.

Hybrid: 2 days per week in Kraków office, Poland; must attend local office part of the week. Extended Stay Program allows up to 90 days outside country of jurisdiction.

What you will do

• Design, implement, test, and maintain PHP backend services (Laravel or similar) for large-scale customer-facing features.
• Own end-to-end delivery: discovery, planning, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Influence system architecture, API design, and data models for reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with Product, SRE, QA, and stakeholders to build pragmatic solutions.
• Improve observability, instrumentation, runbooks; participate in on-call and postmortems.
• Reduce technical debt via refactors, platform improvements, and reusable abstractions.
• Mentor colleagues, conduct code reviews, and contribute to best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years software engineering, 3+ years PHP backend in production
• Modern PHP framework (Laravel preferred), test frameworks (PHPUnit/Codeception)
• RESTful APIs, background jobs, message-driven workflows
• Relational DBs (MySQL/PostgreSQL): schema, indexing, tuning, migrations
• Containerization (Docker), CI/CD, cloud (AWS preferred)
• Distributed systems fundamentals, scalable patterns
• Strong communication and mentorship skills
