What you will do

• Write, edit, and produce multimedia content for various services including print, digital, broadcast, and video.
• Generate daily national business stories, ideas for consumer interest and personal finance.
• Pitch stories meeting wire needs, diversify sources, and develop reliable contacts in key companies and industries.
• Monitor business news, cover quarterly earnings from major public companies, and uncover exclusives.
• Write business features, analysis pieces, and explainers under tight deadlines.

Requirements

• Three years of newsroom experience, preferably in business journalism.
• Solid understanding of stock markets, financial statements, and corporate documents.
• Ability to work under extreme deadline pressure, report with speed and accuracy.
• Strong writing and editing skills, solid news judgment, experience with breaking news and long-term assignments.
• Experience using broadcast, video, and multimedia platforms; ability to simplify complex finance for general audiences.
• Familiarity with CP Stylebook and Caps and Spelling.

Nice to have

• Experience with video and/or audio in addition to writing.
• Successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course or other financial analysis course.
