Principal Lab Services Engineer

TL;DR

Principal Lab Services Engineer (GPU Infrastructure): Provide senior technical leadership for lab environments supporting hardware development, platform validation, and cluster bring-up with an accent on next-generation GPU systems, physical infrastructure requirements like power, cooling, space, and operational readiness. Focus on defining technical standards, dogfooding internal automation tooling, troubleshooting complex issues, and mentoring engineering teams.

Location: UK, presence required within one of our labs and/or Datacenters (no office presence needed)

What you will do

• Provide senior technical ownership of lab environments and operational standards.
• Lead planning for lab capacity including rack space, power, cooling, cabling, and networking.
• Define and maintain standards for lab design, hardware installation, cluster bring-up, and lifecycle management.
• Act as technical authority for introducing next-generation GPU systems and assessing infrastructure needs.
• Validate clusters using internal automation and tooling, dogfooding provisioning and management workflows.
• Troubleshoot issues, lead root cause analysis, produce runbooks, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of hardware infrastructure: servers, storage, networking, GPU platforms.
• Strong knowledge of GPU infrastructure requirements: power, cooling, space, resilience.
• Hands-on experience with cluster bring-up, infrastructure validation, hardware troubleshooting.
• Experience in lab operations, data center ops, high-density compute or GPU environments.
• Experience with bare metal provisioning, system bring-up, technical standards, and documentation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in AI, HPC, or large-scale GPU environments.
