TL;DR

IT Manager (Gamedev): Oversee IT operations and companywide system administration for a growing game studio with an accent on infrastructure management, network security, and game server hosting. Focus on implementing stable IT support systems, eliminating security risks, and providing after-hours assistance for operational continuity.

Location: Onsite in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada (at least five days a week)

Salary: $105,000 - $130,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Oversee IT operations, manage helpdesk, and provide stable, protected IT support.
• Implement and maintain companywide system administration, IT infrastructure, and software licenses.
• Handle employee on/off-boarding and assist with hardware/software installation.
• Identify and eliminate security risks, manage networks, storage, and virtualization.
• Analyze business requirements, forecast budgets, and communicate with teams and vendors.
• Be available for after-hours/weekend support as required.

Requirements

• 6+ years in IT, including 3+ years as IT manager or similar
• High understanding of game development hardware, game server hosting, Windows AD/servers, Linux, SSH, virtualization (Hyper-V, Proxmox), networks (Wireguard, VPN, VLAN, PFSense), storage (SAN/NAS like TrueNAS), and security.
• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills, analytical/problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and handle critical issues.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science/IT or related.
• 1+ year IT experience in games/entertainment software.
• Knowledge of Python/Shell scripting, DevOps principles, automation (Ansible, etc.).
